A pendant light is a lone light fixture that hangs from the ceiling usually suspended by a cord, chain, or metal rod. Mini-pendants are simply small pendant lights that range from 2 to 8 inches in diameter. Mini-pendant lights are often used in multiples, hung in a straight line over kitchen countertops and dining sets. Mini-Pendants can be mounted on individual canopies or track lighting and rail lighting systems. They also come in both line voltage (120v) and low voltage (12v) fixtures. Low voltage fixtures may require a separate transformer. Pendants come in a huge variety of sizes and vary in materials from metal to glass and plastic to mica. Many modern pendants are energy-saving low voltage models and some use halogen, LED or fluorescent bulbs. Other common types of ceiling fixtures include recessed lights, flush mounts, semi-flush mounts, pendants, mini-pendants, hall lights, foyer lighting, chandeliers, mini-chandeliers, island lights, billiard lights, pot racks, track lighting, and rail lights. Popular styles include contemporary, traditional, baroque, mission, artisan, craftsman and tiffany.
